Can't Find The Comics?

MoD reader Van Foster wrote in to point out that the first three comics are online . I don’t remember ever seeing this mentioned on the frontpage, so my guess is that a lot of our readers are still unaware of this.

Anyways, Van also pointed out that there were a few differences between the actual comics and the online versions. In issue #2, GALI’s eyes are yellow with a pinkish glow around them, but in the online version, they’re left white until she puts on her MIRU. Also, the last frame is completely different, with LEWA and MUAKA being in different poses, and KANE-RA making an appearance in the online version. In issue #3, TAHU uses his flame sword against a wall of sand, but only in the online version.

I don’t have the third issue myself, but I checked through the first two and found a few more differences. For starters, none of the original text bubbles seem to have been used. Instead, they seem to have been completely redone to take advantage of the extra space around the artwork.

In the first issue, all of the tall frames got chopped down to fit in the space provided, but in the second and third issues, all full-page panels were shrunk down to be small enough to fit.

Also in the first issue, KOPAKA says, “Stay,” when MATORO is yelling, “YAAAH!” but the online version omits KOPAKA’s line. And in the second issue, when LEWA defeats the NUI-JAGA, there are whisps of smoky air coming out of his axe, but they were left out of the online version. If you’re reading the online version you can get an idea of what they look like when you get to the panel where LEWA is switching back to his MIRU.

Anyways, with how hard these were to find, it’s great that they were able to post them online for all of those people who couldn’t track them down. If you’re one of those people, I would suggest signing up with the LEGO® Mania club right away. Almost every LEGO® set you can buy comes with a little yellow flyer that will allow one free subscription per household, so there’s really no reason not to.
