METRU NUI

I was asked not to post this image until September 16th, and I decided to wait until just before going to work so no one in the world would see it early, but the wait is finally over.

This image is from the inside of the last page of the brochure included in the MASK OF LIGHT DVD. We’re not sure what character this is, but there are a few things I was able to pick out from the little bit that we can see. The first thing I noticed was that this character appears to have articulated elbows. Unfortunately, it also appears to rely on the old bent-angle THROWBOT limb for the forearm. The unseen portion of the arm appears like it might be some sort of large functional grasper claw. The next thing that caught my eye was that the new KANOHI looks like it was inspired by the original KAUKAU, with the scuba-like look to the apparatus around the mouth area and the shape of the viewport, to the tapered ridge running up the middle of the forehead. Finally, the little bits of torso that we can see almost look like the old THROWBOT torso. The interior of them is only 2-wide, and there really isn’t a good way to incorporate the TOA-style attack mechanism, so my guess is these will either have less versatile construction in that regard, or they will only be designed to resemble the THROWBOT torsos.

As for the story teaser, there’s really not much solid info that can be gleaned from the text, beyond that a lot of interesting new questions will be answered.
