MOC: Toa Sitary

Surel recently posted this MOC entitled Toa Sitary on our Discord, and I was immediately impressed by the design and wanted to feature it this week.

I like how he’s taken a basic Toa Metru body and then added so many little details to give it depth. He’s also created some great looking accessories, like Sitary’s double sided axe. Her shield has some flip open blades that required some interesting geometry to make them fold up so perfectly.

In Surel’s words:

Originally she was just a younger sister-Toa for an RPG, then her story changed, so she is a Tuyet fanatic and hails from an alternate dimension, where she already conquered the Spherus Magna after the restoration/reformation, and during an accident she landed in the RPG’s new dimension/alternate universe. Sitary was an early Su-Matoran, who was accidentally made as a female, but was forgotten. She later became a Toa of Plasma and was the part of Xia’s Toa team.

As an unusual female Toa of Plasma, she was hunted for treason, similarly to Varian, before she got to Xia, and later the island was attacked in search for her. Her teammates made an “accident” where she faked her death, reforged her Mask of Possibilities into a Noble Akaku, and her original armor was replaced by the current one. She acted like she was mute, like if she lost her voice in a pervious battle, changed her fighting style, to conceal her identity.

Honestly, I wanted to rework her backstory, but I haven’t got enough time to properly make it. Her double axes being a single weapon was inspired by Darth Maul’s lightsaber, and the dual wielding alternate mode was by Tarix’s blades. The blades on the shield are both an offensive and a defensive mechanism, The blades themselves are sharp on both edges, and can generate a temporary force field around her, like a Hau. The jetpack was redesigned after I watched the Mandalorian, but it’s just a jetpack, and weapon storage.

You can see more of Toa Sitary in the character’s Flickr album, and more of Surel’s work can be found here.
