This especially well designed creation is by THE_DOOR_OPENER, who posted it on our discord server recently. I’ve always gotten the impression that I am not into music as much as most people I meet. I probably own 15 CDs at best, and maybe listen to 20 songs consistently from 4 of those 15’ish CDs. I can maybe recognize the Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice tittle songs, and in a best case scenario I can accurately name half the songs from my Ghost in the Shell soundtracks, but that’s about the extent of my musical knowledge.

For all my lack of understanding music and the surrounding culture, THE_DOOR_OPENER’s recent take on Chiara still manages to convey it’s Punk Rock theme loud and clear.

My favorite punk band is the Ramones, absolute legends. Their fourth album, Road to Ruin, is a cartoon illustration of the band, and depicts the group with exaggeratedly tall popped collars. That was my inspiration for Chiara’s extremely tall collars.

When I was a kid, I actually thought of Nidhiki as the punk rock toa; mata green+white with a black mohawk, and ofc the popped collar and guitar. I was going to do that for the my canon contest Nidhiki, and I did try a few iterations of Nidhiki over covid, but nothing stuck. When Greg announced the spear for Chiara, I saw the spear as a guitar and considered using the idea for her. When I realized that the Mata Blue Carapar Plates could work perfectly for the popped collars, I was set.

There are many other details to the creation besides the popped collar, like the darker blue in the legs to give the look of blue jeans, and extra articulation in the neck to allow the iconic “power stance” pose. My favorite tiny detail is that Chiara’s heartlight is on a chain necklace. Using the Vorahk staff was pretty much obligatory, but none the less a fun detail. THE_DOOR_OPENER also tells me that despite being made in Stud.io, Chiara was made entirely with “legitimate” parts, so someone can theoretically hunt down everything to build this with authentic LEGO pieces.

At this time THE_DOOR_OPENER did not have any personal social media links to share, however, he and TakuaNova (who’s Skadki of Light was featured here not too long ago) have been contributing to other noteworthy efforts in the BIONICLE community, particularly the Empire Of Toa minecraft project. They both wanted to share the discord server for that ongoing project.
