This is a MOC by Ryan TheFilmMaker
When Tuma led the Skrall to failure after failure – first, the disastrous alliance with Metus, and then the futile attempt to reclaim his glory in the Battle of Bara Magna – it was clear the Skrall required new leadership. His own daughter challenged him for the throne, and in the ensuing battle, Baramus executed her father. As the unchallenged ruler of the Skrall, she spearheaded their return to the Black Spike Mountains, and helped to create an alliance with the two other powers on the continent of Bota Gaia: the Kingdom of Zakaz and the Vorox Confederacy. Now, Baramus enjoys her position as absolute ruler of the Skrall Empire and leader of the League of Three Kingdoms.
Baramus is, without a doubt, the moc I’ve put the most effort into designing. I went through a good three or four iterations, but none really had the design I was looking for. I wanted something that was clearly feminine, but not sexualized like a lot of female mocs are (no hate though). She’s still a Bionicle, after all. I eventually settled on the final design, though even then I still continued to tweak smaller parts of her for another month, including her arms, battle dress, shield, and head. The biggest downside is that she’s not especially stable (the ball joint that gives her waist articulation is especially bad) and is somewhat difficult to pose. Nevertheless, I am incredibly proud of the final product, and I have to say that she is the best moc I’ve created to date.

Ryan also had pictures of the original Baramus and a few WIP pictures. It’s always interesting to see how a MOC evolves over the years so I wanted to include a few of them. Even now I think Ryan is still tweaking Baramus, but if I were to offer constructive criticism, I think she could use just a tiny bit of green on each of the legs, maybe some green tubing along the staff too? Other than that, the construction looks great so I can’t suggest much on the MOC itself. Perhaps Ryan could create few more weapons for Baramus, styled after the different elements, to reflect weapons collected as trophies from opponents during her rise to power? Maybe even a throne to hang them on? It would be interesting to see more trophy weapons with storytelling aspects added to the character’s collection.
You can see more of Ryan TheFilmMaker‘s creations here on Instagram, I don’t want to spoil all of Baramus’ pictures here on MOD so check it out his account if you want to see more. Although he may have put more effort into Baramus than his previous creations, his older MOCs are also worth checking out, especially if your looking for some ideas for your own creations.
