M&L and 8/10: Vision of the Great Beings Returns!

A long-anticipated story is finally here!

Three years ago on 810NICLE Day 2021, Myths and Legacy unveiled its earliest entries in the Vision of the Great Beings storyline. Two of the stories, Mazeka and Light on the Dunes were fully published in the years after, and more recently full continuations of The Powers That Be, The Yesterday Quest, and the overall story were also released. But of the stories we’ve debuted as audiobooks, one has never seen the light on the dunes of day… until now.

Happy 810NICLE Day.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Bara Magna, the Toa Hagah embark on a perilous quest to liberate the Toa Mahri from the Skakdi Fortress, beginning a trajectory that will bring the two teams once more on a collision course. But as shadows of the past return to haunt the Toa Hagah, the Toa Mahri find one of theirs towering tall over them.

Today we are thrilled to announce a story in development longer than Myths and Legacy has existed, being devised all the way back in 2017. Only three years prior, Greg Farshtey had revealed that the Toa Mahri had been freed from captivity under the Gold-Skinned Being. Not content to leave such a compelling adventure of the Toa Hagah (as set up in some of the final story chapters we ever received) go to waste, BobTheDoctor27 immediately undertook the creation of a story to capture the daring assault on the Skakdi fortress… and what is likely to be the final battle of the Toa Hagah as we know them.

There’s so much that could be said for a story so long in the making, but for now I’ll settle for this:

  • Like last year’s 8/10 release, this story comes with some never-before-seen lore from Greg, from the same conference where he revealed information about the fate of the Great Beings and their fortresses. As he helped in brainstorming some major plot points, this recording will not be published until we are wrapping up the story’s release.
  • Tomorrow’s Gathered Friends episode will feature Legacy Weapons and contain spoilers for the full story, as well as an audiodrama featuring a portion of the story. Watch at your own discretion.
  • As Mazeka was originally written as a companion piece to Legacy Weapons, the two stories feature nods to each other. Those who remember Mazeka well will note some references between the two.
  • Those interested in getting up to speed on the original battle between the Toa Mahri and the Toa Hagah can check out our edition of Dwellers in Darkness from our collection of 2008 serials where we reorganize the storylines according to the three main narratives. Instead of having to trace both teams and the relevant subplots across all three 2008 serials, you can now check them all out in one spot!
  • Like a handful of other Myths and Legacy titles, those interested in some trivia behind the story should keep an eye on Legacy Weapons’ Custom BIONICLE Wiki page where story notes will be featured.

This is quite a hefty story coming up, and release will span for the next few months. Get ready for the coming clash of Toa!

Check out the first three chapters of Legacy Weapons today! And definitely check out the 8/10 livestream too!
