MOC: haru_bonks’ Kopaka

This is a creation by haru_bonks

haru_bonks has a full set of the 6 Toa in this style, and they are all incredibly good. I was tempted to post them all here since they are shorts, though I want to encourage you to check the rest out on his Youtube channel to help promote it’s growth. Since I decided to only pick one, Kopaka happens to be my favorite Toa (and featured in haru_bonk’s profile picture) so he seemed fitting to pick for today’s feature.

This version of Kopaka has just the right amount of articulation and detail, going so far as to recreate the style of the original limbs. It reminds me of the comic book designs of the character, able to bend his shoulders and joints in ways the original toy could not. This Kopaka is just about the perfect display piece.

As for constructive criticism, I’m curious if haru_bonks could improve it further by replicating the feet with smaller parts to allow the foot to bend at the “toe” portion. It also looks fragile in a few places, like the joints. I think the shoulders are connected to a t-valve, when I suspect parts like these modified pins and modified axles might do the job better.

Be sure to check out haru_bonks’ Youtube channel if you like what you see. Though he doesn’t have much content at the time of writing, what he does have is very good. You can even see a step-by-step tutorial of his Onua if your curios about the torso design.
