Wow, this little guy looks goofy, in a cute sort of way. Of course, so do most turtles, so I guess it’s appropriate. Again, though, orange and grey don’t mix nicely.
I love the ball-jointed neck, as it allows the Hoi to look around at all kinds of odd angles, just like a real turtle. However, the back legs look double-wide due to the use of 2×4 L-shaped liftarms as the flanks of the body, and that just doesn’t look right to me. Also, while the tail can move, it’s directly tied into the two back legs, so they move at the same time. It kind of eliminates the entire purpose of having posable legs. Also, the legs seem a little too close together, front to back. It kind of makes it look like the turtle is leaning forward. Finally, the head is hollow and has no eyes, which looks quite freaky. On the other hand, the design is a great starting point for modifications, and it’s really not that hard to tweak here and there.
