The March 2005 issue of BIONICLE® promises us “Vengeance of the VISORAK” but that is all they achieve the promise of vengeance. The TOA HORDIKA are attempting to save the MATORAN and escape, but what little plan they may have has quickly gone awry. The RAHAGA are trying to assist the TOA HORDIKA and keep them out of trouble, with very little success on both counts. All except for the absent WHENUA are left in some sort of peril as we await the next installment of the series.
The first few panels are interesting to note because they combine traditional comic book art with digitally-enhanced photographic backgrounds. Notice the clouds in the very first panel from this issue, shown above.
As far as the non-story pages go, we are treated to the biographies of PROTOCAIRNS and FROSTELUS in the centerfold. These are the two combiners created from three TOA HORDIKA sets each. Other than that, we have a page dedicated to BIONICLE.com , a Metru Nui “quick guide” map, a half-page RHOTUKA ad, and a half-page GoQubic ad.
On the back is a curious advertisement for the Toys “R” Us-exclusive 8715 ULTIMATE CREATURES ACCESSORY SET . Close examination of the picture reveals a few discrepancies. The pictured tub’s number is not 8715 but 7250, a number not yet in use. And the description is “BIONICLE CREATURE ACCESSORY SET” rather than “ULTIMATE CREATURES ACCESSORY SET.” Obviously, some things changed between when the tub was photographed and when it was finally released.
