The last press release on LEGO.com under the category “LEGO Bionicle” dates all the way back to May 13, 2002 and talks about renewing the partnership between BIONICLE® and Andy Mac. I asked Brian at LEGO® Americas if that partnership had been renewed again this year.
The answer is no, the partnership has not been renewed. Andy Mac was the “perfect ambassador for BIONICLE to the skateboarding community” but the company “felt that BIONICLE could make the most impact by expanding it’s support of amateur skateboarding at the grassroots level.”
That support can be seen at league events and skateboard camps via BIONICLE banners on site, BIONICLE-branded tents, a BIONICLE Best trick area in some leagues, and BIONICLE prize packs. They will also be bringing the BIONICLE Unleashed vans to league competitions throughout the course of the Tour.
Here is a list of organizations and skateboard camps that BIONICLE is sponsoring in 2003:
- CASL – California Amateur Skateboard League
Amateur skate league which encompasses all of California - The League NW
The Pacific Northwest Amateur Skate league encompasses Oregon & Washington - RMSBA
