BrickTalk: BIONICLE® And Skateboarding

The last press release on LEGO.com under the category “LEGO Bionicle” dates all the way back to May 13, 2002 and talks about renewing the partnership between BIONICLE® and Andy Mac. I asked Brian at LEGO® Americas if that partnership had been renewed again this year.

The answer is no, the partnership has not been renewed. Andy Mac was the “perfect ambassador for BIONICLE to the skateboarding community” but the company “felt that BIONICLE could make the most impact by expanding it’s support of amateur skateboarding at the grassroots level.”

That support can be seen at league events and skateboard camps via BIONICLE banners on site, BIONICLE-branded tents, a BIONICLE Best trick area in some leagues, and BIONICLE prize packs. They will also be bringing the BIONICLE Unleashed vans to league competitions throughout the course of the Tour.

    Amateur skate league which encompasses all of California

    The Pacific Northwest Amateur Skate league encompasses Oregon & Washington

  • United Skateboarding Association “GROM” Series
    The GROM series features amateurs under 14 years old and spans the northeastern United States
  • HometownRising
    HometownRising features amateur skaters from the Midwest and Texas
  • High Cascades Snowboarding Camp
    High Cascades runs a Vans skateboarding camp during the summer for young skaters 11–18
  • Top of the World Ultimate Skateboard Camp
    Ottawa, Canada’s premiere skateboarding camp
  • Windell’s Snowboard Camp
    A snowboard/skateboard camp in the mountains of Oregon
  • Russ Schofield Classic
    An annual skateboarding contest run in the memory of Russ Schofield
