BrickUniverse staff sent an alert to attendees of BrickUniverse, confirming an attendee has tested positive for Covid-19, and was present for the period of Sunday, March 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m..
The Wake County Public Health Division asks anyone who was at the event from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on March 8 to call our COVID-19 information line at 919-856-7044.
I have no idea on the age or habits of the individual who was infected, but I understand the disease itself is primarily transmitted through touch more than being airborne, and warnings advise washing your hands properly and not touching your face. I personally saw kids constantly touching and even rubbing their mouths on the metal stanchions intended to keep them out of the exhibits. Worse case scenario, if the infected attendee was touching the stanchions or handling bricks in the build zone, you may want to think back on if you or your children had touched these, and watch them and yourself more carefully for signs of infection. The disease has been known to take as long as 12 days to manifest. The CDC warns that the Covid-19 symptoms, fever, cough, and shortness of breath, can appear anywhere between 2-14 days after exposure. This means you are probably in the clear from an infection at BrickUniverse if you feel fine on the 23rd of March.
