The False Dodecapede has the same coloration (or lack thereof) as the true Dodecapede and it also lives in the same caves and eats the same food. The obvious difference between the two is that the False Dodecapede has a more upright attitude and only six legs instead of the true Dodecapede’s lower profile and twelve legs.
Because the False Dodecapede relies so heavily on its eyes (which, like the true Dodecapede’s eyes, glow red under the slightest illumination), evolution has seen fit to encage their eyes in six pseudo-legs and also provide them two pair of false eyes: one pair near the mouth and another pair on the back of the head.
