This concept art by Michael Rose, made during the development of BIONICLE 3: Web of Shadows, shows what appears to be Toa Hordika Matau exploring the dilapidated remains of Metru Nui, with Visorak webs visible throughout the image.

The City of Legends in ruins — an intriguing piece that sets the tone for BIONICLE’s 2005 run. It was never one of my favorite years, but I can’t deny the artistry and world-building going on here. The desolation on display fit 2005’s aesthetic perfectly.
