This is my tank, the Bonaparte Type Two Mark Two. It combines the sweeping mechanism of my NXT powered tank with the fire-in-reverse mechanism of my smaller tank.
A ratchet mechanism allows the tank to capture ammo when driving forward, while driving in reverse launches captured ammo. Both motors are linked to the fire/capture mechanisms, allowing it to take advantage of both motors for each function.
If there’s a drawback to the design, it’s that you can’t really drive backwards without launching the ammo, but you can make wide left and right turns to line up and aim shots. It also functions sub par on hard floor surfaces because of traction issues with the plastic treads.
Oh, and Happy Fourth of July.
