This next creation for the MOC’a’THON is more of a utility structure I’ve put together. With each Toa and some villains coming packed with extra masks, I was having a hard time keeping track of them all. I finally got tired of it and put this together to help keep track of them.
I used sixteen #4 axle connectors and size 7 axles to make two 8 sided rings. I used a bunch of old gray sockets and size 6 axles to make bars that connected the two rings. Even more old sockets hold two newer sockets along each horizontal axle.
The newer sockets make a great display for the second generation masks, though a number of other pieces will also do the job. Whatever part you use, it has to be about 2 wide and have notches for the clips to slip into and lock it in place. In my case, the newer sockets happen to prop the mask up just right to be presentable, and have a wider end for the masks to grip. The older sockets will work too, but the side I attach the mask clips onto is skinnier. As a result, the slightest bump will knock most masks right off.
The “Protector of Etc.” masks will fit side by side with this design, but since they are so wide, you must place these particular masks on a corner. This could offset the entire display of masks if you have a more decorative intent, since the smaller Toa masks would then also be split onto corners, and the corner gaps do not suit them as well. Depending on your needs and parts, you could just make a wider ring to fit them better, or adjust their spacing on the bar.
