ICFTA: Brush With Destiny

I have a semi-annual appointment with my dentist this week, so why not share this recent find from my attic? The Vahki Bordakh electric toothbrush by Colgate:

I remember reviewing the first set of toothbrushes, including Gali Nuva, who still stands next to my bathroom sink even though I have yet to use her to brush my teeth. To be honest, I’m just keeping an eye on whether the included battery (long since dead) is going to leak out.

This particular Vahki toothbrush was supposed to stay in its package, but it had other ideas, so here it is out of the packaging:

Unlike the Toa Nuva toothbrushes, where the included mask serves a useful function in that it protects your toothbrush’s bristles from mint-loving roaches in the middle of the night, the included Kanoka disc and launcher do not attach to this toothbrush.

I managed to secure all of the parts for the green Hau. Here it is assembled:

The mask has some nice features that are not immediately obvious from just looking at the picture. There is a nice open space in the back such that you can hang your mask from a wall on a nail or hook. If you prefer a free-standing display, there is a stand built into the bottom of the mask that allows it to lean back at an aesthetically-pleasing angle, like many display stands for photographs.

  1. I had no idea they did a run of these for the Vahki! The transition to disks seems strange, but I imagine they were pretty limited by how unwieldy the Vahki head assembly is. It looks like the disk is only found elsewhere in the random packs, so at least there’s some collectibility to this.

  2. This is such a cool thing! It’s crazy that they had all these wonky marketing pushes back in the day which included toothbrushes and shoes. Very nifty!
