Market Watch: Blockbuster Gali And More

I missed last week’s Market Watch, so I did a little extra hunting this week!

One of the few ways you could buy a Copper Mask Of Victory back in the Mask of Light movie days, was to check your local Blockbuster Video store for this uncommon exclusive. I purchased four of these back when the CMOV was harder to find for trading and etc. You were buying the 8 dollar Toa and getting a 15’ish dollar mask free, at least if eBay was your only other option. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to keep any of them sealed in the container. This seller did, and is asking a whopping 130.00 USD, or best offer! I have no idea how many of these are running around in the wild, or in warehouses of unsold stock waiting to be discovered, all I know is you don’t see them pop up very often. A sealed Gali Nuva normally runs about $70 USD on Bricklink, while the Huna goes as low as $2.50 depending on country. The difference in price just to have one shrink-wrapped to the other is obviously not very compelling, unless you want a sealed Gali Nuva that’s just a bit rarer than most to add to you collection. If that’s the case, the fact that nobody has scooped this up for the buy-it-now price suggests you might save a few bucks by making an offer.

Next up, another BIONICLE Watch! This one is Glatorian themed, and I didn’t even know it existed! It even comes with a Thronax launcher, although I can’t tell if it has the parts to connect it to the watch. For $32.99 and free shipping, the price is on par with other BIONICLE watches and the box is in decent shape if you plan to keep it sealed. If you plan to open it, you can save 4 bucks by grabbing this one instead, which has some shelf wear but looks fine otherwise.

Finally, we have something a little more unique: A custom silver Toa Mata Nui. If I had to guess, this is not worth the asking price of $375.00, and shipping is not even included! The unmodified Toa Mata Nui set does typically sell for that much used, although most of that value is for the Pearl Gold Ignika according to Duckbricks. The seller probably set the price based on the official model, not realizing that the majority of value was stripped out when they swapped to a silver Ignika. I only included this because it’s pretty cool to see.
