Market Watch: LEGO Inside Tour Gali Mask

I honestly don’t know what the value on this would be, although I have a hard time thinking someone would pay $3,499.00 plus $16.10 USD expedited shipping (or best offer) for one of these limited edition masks. There are theoretically 200 of these in existence, each uniquely numbered, and somehow this piece of plastic is selling for far more than I paid for my Sterling Silver Krana Kal which numbers in at less than a hundred.

To be fair, attending the 3 day LEGO Inside Tour was estimated to cost 2,200 USD according to Jay’s Brick Blog, not counting the cost of hotel and travel (especially if you lived outside the country of Denmark). If your the kind of person who spends that much on a 3 day vacation, then your probably enough of a hardcore LEGO fan to appreciate this collectible enough not to let it go for cheap. This likely accounts for the high value of the mask and to some degree it’s scarcity on the market on top of the low number minted.

As our own Mark once said, what something is worth is how much someone is willing to pay for it. As a word of caution, just because something is worth 2.9 million to you doesn’t mean it’s worth that much to anyone else. I believe BIONICLE is at an all time high due to the recent 20th anniversary, and although sealed LEGO products are appreciating in value more than gold, this is not necessarily a good long-term investment.
