When Mata Nui Online Game first came out, it was played in Flash Player 4. Flash Player 4 was capped to running at 18 FPS, which is the frame rate Templar designed the game to run at and what they synced all the audio to.
When Flash Player 5 was released, Macromedia removed the hard limit on the frame rate, and Mata Nui Online Game started running more quickly than it was designed to, leading to some music running longer than the action and animations that run too quickly to fully appreciate.
This is why in newer releases, we restored the original 18 FPS limit to the game. However, we found that many of you prefer the 30 FPS limit, and asked for an option to play at 30 FPS instead. Flash Player didn’t make this easy — older Flash content doesn’t have an FPS API — but with some clever tricks we are happy to announce the inclusion of a 30 FPS mode in both the original 2001 version and the 2006 re-release version! Just download the latest version (version 1.1.0) from the BioMedia Project game page.
In the 2006 re-release version you will be prompted to choose your FPS option when launching the game (seen above), and in the 2001 version the options are available under Settings in the bottom bar (seen below) and your choice will be saved for future launches.
