Max Howell’s Toa Tuyet

@maxhbuilds’ Tuyet takes a much different design philosophy than the others we’ve shown off. This one forgoes the Toa Metru torso altogether, focusing on an entirely custom torso and favors an unusual colorscheme featuring a black body with only just enough blue to make the design pop.

Visually, I think this creation looks much more interesting from the back (I even chose to feature this side on the front page), where it appears very “biomechanical”. It’s not that it looks bad from the front, rather the Hahli Inika head and hero factory plate look too simple in comparison.

If I were to propose some changes, I would have used some smaller blue pieces to try and bump up the complexity on the front and remove the Hahli head altogether. Alternatively I may have kept the hahli head and swap the black rims around the shoulder with some blue parts to help draw the focus over the whole torso instead of right to the head. The sword might also have benefitted from some additional creativity beyond the custom grip. The back-side of the sword does seem to fit the barbed sword theme, although orienting the smooth blade outward doesn’t sell the idea as well if you ask me. I do like that this creation has actual hands to grip the sword with though.
