Lets go for one more brick based MOC on LEGO Ideas before going back to something more technic and CCBS themed.
While many of the BIONICLE MOCs on LEGO Ideas have focused on the brick-built figure side of things, Grumblebricks’ creation is one of those focusing on building an environment and it’s corresponding minifigures.
The set features 3 villages and the Kini Nui. The build appears very modular, using a series of hexagons akin to the board game “Quest for Makuta”. They can even be anchored together with technic pins, and the modularity of it is almost as fun as the environment itself. Imagine if we got these as official sets and you could lock them all together into a huge landscape as they added new locations every year. I find myself wishing the official playsets had forgone the current Igniki and Mahri themes to focus on the early scenes of the story, like this MOC does.
The environments look great, although I wish Po-Koro could have worked in a Kohli goal or two to flesh it out a little more. It looks like it got the least attention of the three, although the builder had a part limit to work under. I might have nixed Kini’s giant toa-head statue in favor of expanding Po Koro, since the Kini looks great even without it.
And of course we get plenty of minifigures to go with the set! Look at the detail on the Rahi! Outside of the Rahi, the Bohrok have to be my favorite, as Grumblebricks managed to work in a couple cannisters for them to hang in.
I’ll send you over to Grumblebrick’s Idea page for Takua’s Journey to see the remaining pictures and details. It’s just a bit short of 2,000 supporters at the time of writing.
