I’ve been a bit busy with things outside of Mask of Destiny lately, so I asked for help picking out a MOC for this week. JSLBrowning suggested we feature a Toa Tuyet or three, while DuckBricks is hosting the Tuyet Fanon Contest!
Up first, we have Bukkey’s Toa Tuyet!
It’s always fun to see how someone can take an off-the-shelf torso design and tweak it into something that appears to have much more depth than it had before. Plenty of builders have used the Bohrok-Kal claw on the chest, myself included, but this is the first time I’ve seen a wheel, a pin, and a bar further sandwiched inside to create the appearance of a tiny heart-light. I feel like the sword is the real star of this show, however, as it uses the ribs of a Thornax launcher in tandem with the Kurahk staff end to create the barbed design. The mini Mistika rocket rounds out the sword perfectly.
As fun as the Metru Nui torso is, however, I feel like it’s holding the design back just a bit. If Bukkey were inclined to take my advice, I’d recommend keeping the chest piece and heartlight, and trying to build an all new torso around it.
You can see more of Bukkey’s work here on YouTube, where he has quite a bit of stop motion featuring off the shelf sets, as well as MOCs. Bukkey can also be found on Instagram.
