This creation is by Opercot:
Opercot designed this as an interpretation of the Dust Darter, which he envisioned as a mosquito-like creature. These protodermis feeders are normally so tiny, they can barely be seen by the naked eye. Opercot chose to build this as a macro scale MOC as a result.
I love how it resembles a Nui Rama, albeit much smaller, and has that classic Rahi liftarm construction. The claws give it the appearance it can grip onto prey, and I imagine the proboscis is either a drill, or used to suck up protodermis after liquifying it. The majority of real life fly species eat by liquifying their food externally with chemicals in order to drink it, so the Nui Rama design works well with that theory.
If you want to see more of Opercot’s work, they have a few creations worth checking out on their Twitter account. He claims to be an “amateur MOC creator”, although I think each MOC shows off some interesting ideas and building techniques.
