MOC: Lucas Build’s Tuyet

With Duckbrick’s finale to the Fanon Tuyet contest just around the corner, I expect this will be the last Tuyet we feature for a while.

This time, we are featuring Lucas Builds‘ Tuyet. Lucas takes a much different approach to the colorscheme, making her as silver as she is blue. This gives Tuyet a well-armored appearance. The hero factory Shark head seems to have determined the entire colorscheme, and I can’t argue with the results.

Lucas Builds does an excellent job of breaking down the assembly, going going over every detail and part necessary to make the character. The presentation even looks like a standard LEGO instruction manual! While most of the build seems simple, there are a few interesting details to the design, like some guns just behind the torso armor plate that blend in so perfectly you might otherwise miss them.

The most interesting detail to me is the arm construction. The arms lack a gear box connection, instead using the cavity with an angled connector as an anchor to raise the shoulder joint up. The previously mentioned gun pieces also seem to help stabilize the anchor. The raised shoulder ball joints also sit on a very tiny part plugged into Tuyet’s neck socket, which seems to help smooth out some of the shoulder’s wobble.

Lucas Builds also makes use of some sloped bricks to help smooth out the design here and there, and seems to go just a bit overkill on the parts filling the gap in the ankle. They are there mostly for decoration, although those particular parts are pretty difficult to install and remove, so be warned if you try to duplicate it. Last of all we even have a place to stow the sword on the back. The sword itself appears to be 3D printed like the mask, and looks perfect for a barbed sword design. Of course, I keep wishing for custom built swords using LEGO pieces, but at least it’s not just another Kirka-leg sword.

If you want to see more, Lucas Buildsyoutube channel has a considerable amount of BIONICLE content, including how-to videos for MOCs, and revamps of classic characters.
