This week I wanted to show off maniac4bricks’ mask display.
He’s still in the process of filling it out, but in the meantime this gives us a better view of the underlying construction. maniac4bricks has been displaying his mask collection at different shows, and previously used a System-based design. His original stud-based display was proving too fragile over the course of show-to-shop transportation, so he devised this sturdier Technic version inspired by designs made by TuragaNuva and Swert.
When I first saw it, I was reminded of displays like Mark’s Kanohi display and Purple Dave’s Krana collection. I personally made this G2 Mask Suva. Although it is not particularly wall friendly like today’s featured creation, it makes a nice shelf display.
While both System and Technic have their benefits, I personally like the modular axel/Technic design. You do have to pull the rack apart to tinker with it, but unlike with System, it’s not as likely to knock half the other displays off the studs if you accidentally flex the plate in the process. It also looks more streamlined.
