I never liked the BIONICLE Stars sets very much. As the final send off for the first generation of BIONICLE sets, I felt like they should have put more effort into the designs, even if they were a bit more expensive. To the Rahkshi’s credit, it came with a new head and spine mold, although it was not particularly fun to work with, and just kinda slapped onto an Agori body.
Brandon.Builds‘ revamped Rahkshi on the other hand, is probably too detailed to have ever been made into an official set.
Take a moment to really look at any one limb, and you start noticing all kinds of tiny parts and creative construction. I was especially impressed by the amount of work in the torso, although every limb has an impressive amount of detailing. Even the staff handle has been smoothed out, instead of just using a bare axle!
At first, I was perplexed the spine looked as though it could open up to accommodate a kraata, and saw no pictures showing this feature. It took me a while to realize the green pieces, which I thought were just for color, represented the Kraata itself.
If I were to make any change to the design, I would have attempted to build the three piece mandibles from the Mask Of Light movie. I think the builder’s talent with mixing standard bricks into the design would have easily allowed him to engineer this.
If you want to see more of Brandon.Builds’ work, you can find his creations here on flickr. Many of his creations are revamps of standard sets, beautifully mixing BIONICLE, technic, and CCBS pieces together with a bit of greebling and standard bricks.
