MOC: Toa Tahu Awakens

Today’s MOC was picked by Axelford, who suggested we feature “TOA TAHU AWAKENS” not long after we featured his own creation back in June.

Wadapan’s creation BIONICLE – TOA TAHU AWAKENS is marketed as a diorama. I can’t say it meets that description very well without the entire beach backdrop. However, if you’ve been with BIONICLE from the start, you probably don’t need more than Tahu, his cannister, and the tiny bit of beach before your imagination fills in the rest. I’m not the biggest fan of brick-built toa designs, although I have to admit I like this one quite a bit.

This concept is faithfully inspired by Tahu’s debut appearance in the fan-favourite Mata Nui Adventure Game, and totals approx. 400 pieces. BIONICLE set out to be a “constraction” line—construction + action—and in that spirit this ingenious model offers highly-accurate details, stable joints for dynamic posing, and a building experience like no other.

However, just like Mata Nui, the set has secrets of its own… by using the parts from the canister, Tahu can be forever transformed, with a mask of greater power, improved body armour, and new enhanced tools. From great victories, the mighty hero Tahu Nuva arises!
