Who will win the Kolhii Championship? Accompany Hahli the Ga-Matoran as she quests across the island of Mata Nui to become the very best! Enjoy the M&L novelization, expanded and revised! Check them out here!
Our edition, revised to be past-tense prose, features interactions with new characters such as Midak, Vhisola (Visloa), Ehrye (Erye), Podu, Gukko Force members, a Wizard, and more, as well as replacing dialogue from Matoran with cloned conversations! (These conversations are easily found, as their sections are isolated from the other content.) Our novelization was also revised alongside the BS01 Walkthrough to feature dialogue originally missing from the adaptation.
Under consideration, should more dramatic revisions be made, would be:
- Consolidating the two Ga-Koro chapters into one, then moving the bulk of Hahli’s chores and tasks to an optional prologue. An explanation would be added at the beginning of the story as to why she has forgotten the Matoran of the island, including the other Ga-Matoran, and their introductions would be made again at the beginning of the first new chapter. Taken altogether, the tedium of reading through Hahli’s tasks and extensive dialogue would be easily skipped, should a reader desire, although it would be kept for those interested.
- Having the first match against the Onu-Matoran be a practice round, use the “losing” dialogue from the Ga-Matoran, then have Hahli travel to Onu-Koro to learn Stamina there, as well as using the dialogue where the Onu-Matoran don’t know her. Then have a rematch and use the Ga-Matoran and Onu-Matoran winning dialogue.
- Add material after the Ta-Koro match introducing the Crystals and hinting at a seventh Toa. Have Hahli travel the island again before the Championship (buffering between the Ta-Koro match and the Championship). After Ta-Koro’s fall, Hahli is given one final task, to bring the Crystals to the Amaja Pit at the Great Telescope, after which she sees the last Rahkshi emerge. Moving the Crystal material before the Championship allows for the narrative to coincide better with the movie narrative, where the discovery of the Avohkii, Hahli and Vakama bidding Jaller and Takua farewell, and the emergence of the Rahkshi all happen within about the same day. More connective tissue would be added, to interlock this narrative with Hahli’s role in the movie.
None of this is final, however, and such drastic revisions may not ultimately be made. If you have any thoughts, or you would like to see some of these brought about, feel free to let us know!
