ONWARD!

TO VICTORY!!

I’ve been checking for updates on the results of the first fan vote, and finally received word via Brickset, that BIONICLE won the initial vote with a good lead. While I felt that the current circumstances suggested BIONICLE could win, I was honestly not expecting that it would be victorious.

Out of about 77,000 participants, casting around 231,000, BIONICLE received 24799 votes, which means about 32.2% of participants included BIONICLE as one of their three votes. Out of 30 candidates to vote on, that is an especially impressive number. Classic Space comes in second, at just 6628 votes behind. Compared to third place, Pirates, which was 2287 votes behind Classic Space.

The LEGO Group also noted significant popularity spread out across the Castle themes, and decided it was a mistake to break them down into into their own categories. They received enough combined votes that they have chosen to lop them all together and include them as a fourth theme to vote on for the finals!

I feel like we can celebrate the fact that BIONICLE took such a huge lead among so many contenders, even if it does not turn out favorably in the final poll. This at least shows the LEGO Group that our favorite theme is well remembered among the fan communities. However, lets make that final push and see if we can put a BIONICLE set on shelves in 2022!

ONWARD, MY COMPATRIOTS!

  1. Nice to see Bionicle is taking the lead, I’d love to see Bionicle on the shelves again, I basically grew up during the time LEGO was releasing waves of Bionicle sets one after another, I played all the games, flash/console ones, It means a lot to me. Basically childhood memories you can say, so seeign them again means a huge wave of nostalgia for me.

    • Too bad we won’t find out until they unveil the winner out of the final four until 2022. It would be nice to at least know who won in advance of the set being unveiled. If Bionicle won, there’s also no guarantee it will be a “true” Bionicle set, but I hope what we do get is something everyone can appreciate regardless. It would certainly be cool to have an Ultimate Collectors grade Bionicle set like we’ve seen with the Star Wars series.
