Hey everyone! Today is International 810NICLE Day, the day I previously announced I’d be launching Wall of History’s next update, as well as our latest projects — the Waybonk Machine and Channel HFX.
But, uh… they’re not quite ready yet. 😬
Rest assured, they are getting there! I’m still dedicating a large portion of my free time to working on them, and I’m making consistent progress. However, I’ve hit several serious snags that have held up the completion of major features. As such, none of these projects are in a state I’d consider ready for release. I have a grand vision for what Wall of History will be when I’m done, and this time, I don’t want to compromise that vision to meet an arbitrary deadline.
So what now?
Well, I still expect I’ll be done soon — the Seventh Update will likely launch within the next month, along with the first versions of the Waybonk Machine and Channel HFX. Once this happens, I’m going to make future updates to Wall of History a more public affair. The source code will be released on a public GitHub repository, so anyone with a knack for web development (and an interest in BIONICLE) could provide input, and I’ll run regular polls regarding new features in our Discord server. No more big yearly updates, but also, no more waiting for big yearly updates (and no more implementing a new feature only to find out the majority of users aren’t fond of it).
That’s all I got for now, so it’s back to work for me. It’s been a long journey getting to this point, but after over four years, Wall of History is almost fully realized. And I can’t wait for y’all to see it.
