TheForce.Net has posted a press release from the Toy Industry Association which details the 100 most important toys of the 1900’s. They stretched it out a few years, going from 1900-2001. Nestled between such iconic mainstays as Crayola Crayons, the Yo-Yo, Barbie, and Nerf balls, if you search through to 1953, you’ll see an entry for the LEGO® System. Technically, the bricks were introduced in 1949 as “Automatic Binding Bricks”, and were only renamed “LEGO® Bricks” in 1953, according to my copy of the 2002 LEGO® Brand Guide. You can read the entire press release here . Reading through that list, I was able to find 51 products that I owned or bought for someone else.
