TOA KONGU INIKA

I’ll start by saying KONHU is a green toa with silver armor. His Upper leg armor, shoulder armor, tool and zamor launcher and clip are all solid silver with the exception of some of the zamor’s firing mechanisms. His feet and torso are a mix of green and silver, in my case the silver is mostly towards the top rectangular sections of the armor, with some hard to spot silver streaks towards the lower half. The silver mixed into the feet is mostly mixed into the outer edges. That said the rest of him is pretty much solid green.

Shape wise he features TOA METRU style lower arms and the blade edged feet (the same that NUPARU has). His mask is an interesting design, I don’t know if it’s that the face was always like that or if it has to do with how the masks were damaged when the INIKA received them as matoran. The mask is best described as a scaled face with bits of armor plating bolted over sections of it. The mouth seems to be filled with sharp pointy teeth and the eyes, as with most TOA INIKA, are unique and have a distinguishing shape to them.

Of the TOA INIKA, KONGU seems to have a darker atmosphere to him lightened up only by his silver portions. I honestly feel some transparent green sockets would have fit him perfectly and given him more contrast, and if it wasn’t for the MoCing parts and people interested in seeing his two sided face I’d guess he’d have the short end of the stick form buyers. I would have expected his crossbow tool to have a green color but turns out it has the same deep blue as MATORO. It does make sense with the air being blue as we see it in the sky, and KINGU is an air toa. The green jungles that other air toa (LEWA…) lived in have me unconsciously thinking of him being more of a “jungle” element.

His tool is a sort of crossbow, and as I speculated with HEWKII, some of the tools were probably limited by the style of packaging, and I add to that speculation that if it wasn’t the lighting perhaps it was the fact they all use the same basic cone tube for the light up function. Some speculated the crossbow would look better if it had been spread out more and not so small, in my opinion it looks like it’s pulled back and ready to fire, and pulling back on a crossbow would essentially make it look less wide, and releasing the arrow allows the bow to stretch back to full size. I hope those of you dissatisfied with the bow will be happier with it thinking of it that way. That said I think the crossbow is one of the cooler tools. Getting back to earlier in this paragraph, talking about the cone tube limiting shape, I wonder if the LEGO company considered using more than just a straight tube? Perhaps they could have used some fiber optics and ran a zig zagging tube down the edge of an axe for example, slowly tapering the tube like they did with these to give a point for the light to end at in the middle of the tube as versus the end (If you’ve seen the fiber optics in the exoforce sets, the light comes out primarily at the end of the tube and is hardly visible since the light fallows the consistently thick tube from one end to the other. If the designers didn’t taper the tubes in these tools it would have shot straight through to the end making the lighting less bright, while the tapering lets the light end on a surface I the middle of the tube, or so is my understanding). I’ll end this saying I wish KONGU was physically more diverse, sort of how HEWKII has the chain, NUPARU has the shoulder mounted zamor and claws, however I will say if everyone had something different as a feature perhaps that would make him feel less different in that sense? Most of KONUGU’s diversity is in how his socket joints are the same color as his lower arms and such, and is the only TOA INIKA who has this limb color set, while the others feature a colored upper limb and a differently colored lower limb.
