Toy Fair Pt. 13

Big news comes in small packages, and this is no exception. With an MSRP of only $3.49 each, these are the least expensive sets in the entire 2004 showroom. Each one features a small stackable 3-piece pod that can be incorporated into some of the official models, or whatever MOC purpose you feel like using them for. The lid locks securely so you don’t have to worry about losing pieces in transit, and there’s plenty of extra room inside the pods themselves, so you can add a few of your favorite pieces to expand your building fun on long trips. Now if they’d just make a purple one…

Sometime this year a printable game is scheduled to be released online, with small game boards (some of which can be seen in the background of a few of these images) and model cards, and the more X-Pods each player has, the more complex their game can be. Models included in the official instructions are used to perform special functions during gameplay.

Wild Pod features mostly red elements, with a few orange, black, and white elements thrown in for accents and eyeballs. Fish, birds, insects, or weird space aliens are among the possibilities with this set.

Auto Pod is mostly blue, with some wheels and transparent elements to make a variety of motor vehicles, from race cars to construction vehicles.

Build helicopters, planes, and spaceships with the yellow Aero Pod. A propeller, a pair of engines, and a trans-black cockpit are some of the special pieces included in this set.

Finally, build robots, robots, and (you guessed it) more robots with the Robo Pod. Green and tan are the two primary colors, and a wide variety of hinges allow you to build tiny little articulated robots.
